When it comes to matters of adornment, the worlds of beauty and jewelry are aesthetically aligned. That’s what brought Nicole Richie, creative director of the jewelry brand House of Harlow, into VIOLET GREY’s orbit earlier this fall, with a trunk show at the Melrose Store that featured her latest earrings and necklaces; she also shared her beauty essentials, which align with the meaning-laden stones in her work. “I always travel with a crystal on me,” she tells Cassandra Grey, whose fragrance house, Madame Grey, taps into similar esoterica with a suite of astrological candles. In this video, the creative powerhouses and founders talk about personalized gifting, being the "directors" of their own movies, and maximalist style. “I do not live by the rule ‘Take one thing off,’” says Nicole. “I usually add one more thing!”
