    The serum that tries to do too much, but misses the mark...

    After using COMPOSITION No. 1 for about eight months (I'm on bottle number two), I thought I'd share a review, since few want to take the financial plunge before some intel (which is wise)...

    I'll state outright that I love AUTEUR products. The packaging is incredible, and each product is innovative and unique. This is the only one I've tried that I'm lukewarm on.

    COMPOSITION No. 1 is almost great -- and filled with great ingredients (namely the high concentration of perfluorocarbons) -- but I've found that it's, essentially, an 'overachiever,' trying to do too many things at once and just missing the mark in the process. It's so active-packed, in fact, that it pretty quickly pills on my skin, leaving that distinct, retinoid-yellow tinge upon application. If I could give AUTEUR notes, I'd suggest that they dial-down the amount of retinol in this formula because of its pilling (and drying) effect. Otherwise, it's strong -- after about two months of nightly use, I noticed that my skin was smoother and more toned overall. Just before the six-month mark, I found that my crow's feet had diminished. The problem? These effects plateaued after that (my skin basically looks the way it did three months ago, with no other notable improvements). That's not really a negative... I suppose I just expected a bit more, and it's difficult to justify the price while only noticing a few modest improvements.

    If you're in the market to spend north of $1k on skincare, I suggest MBR's LIQUID…
