The legendary couturier Paul Poiret—a bon vivant of the early 20th century, known for designing exuberant clothes that freed the body from rigid corsetry—understood how to bring fantasy into the everyday. He launched a pioneering beauty house in 1911, the spirit of which now guides this namesake brand, with its opulent yet pragmatic approach to skin care. If the layering of serums and moisturizers is akin to getting dressed, Poiret’s double-cleanse ritual feels rather like getting undressed. The first product is a next-gen homage to classic cold cream, with a formula that melts makeup at the same time it nourishes skin with antioxidant-rich camellia oil, rose water, and jasmine extract. A splash of water then emulsifies the cream cleanser for an easy rinse. The second product is a solid facial soap, designed to deep-clean pores with a gentle microfoam. This is a rarefied bar, with hydrating orris root extract and rosehip oil. It all begs the question: Can cleansing really summon true fandom? We certainly think so.
