INTRODUCING MIMÉTIQUE
The next-generation French Pharmacy brand taking Paris by storm.

Mimétique could only have emerged from the mind of Fabienne Sebaoun, who practically has skin care in her DNA. The French cosmetic chemist was born into a family of dermatologists, and, at their behest, grew up carefully guarding her visage from the sun—a practice she still takes extremely seriously, and for which she credits for her “vampiric” complexion. Inspired by her relatives and an infatuation with exploring the products available at her local pharmacie, Sebaoun would go on to work for some of the world’s most prestigious brands. While the career was gratifying and educational, she was surprised to find herself feeling lost in the noise of the market, of different philosophies, ingredient stories, and marketing promises—she needed a true north.
In 2020, at age 40, the already accomplished chemist went back to university and quickly discovered a new touchstone: the skin-mimetic technology after which she would name her brand. Sebaoun recounts, “I had a teacher that spent all his life at SkinCeuticals, and he told me, you just have to go back to the roots—to the skin that you know—crack the skin's code and understand what you have to do: Support the skin, activate its natural mechanisms. Your skin is the best technology on the planet. It just needs to do what it does right.” It clicked. She explains, “If you give your skin the exact same ingredients it already produces, they are absorbed better, they are recognized by your skin, and your skin knows what to do with them. And for me, it was like the ah-ha moment.”
Still, at the time, having her own brand wasn’t the ultimate goal. Out of a sense pure scientific exploration, Sebaoun partnered with a French research institution called AgroParisTech to help her create SMRC5, a skin-mimetic restorative complex with five ingredients that would promote full cell regeneration. After years of clinical testing, the team found that this complex had the power to boost collagen production by an impressive 28%. To the scientists (a notoriously tough crowd), this was real proof of efficacy—not just another marketing claim—and they urged Sebaoun to start her own line with this complex as the foundation. For her part, Sebaoun was still hesitant. She recounts, “Coming from the industry, there are so many good brands out there. I will never say ‘I couldn't find what I was looking for.’ Come on, just go into a French pharmacy, into VIOLET GREY, and you'll find the best products in the world. So, I became obsessed with formulating maybe four products that give people back their skin's full potential, with fewer steps, with at least 20% biotech-powered actives for better results.”
Mimétique and its four products—each backed with clinical testing—became a runaway sensation from the moment it debuted at Paris’ famed Le Bon Marché. The simplicity, the efficacy, and the refined, scientific approach won over the discerning French customer and made Mimétique a bonafide best-seller in both luxury retailers and pharmacies across France.
This ability to straddle both worlds is, perhaps, the brand’s defining feature: Mimétique boasts the data, cutting-edge bio-tech ingredients, and elegant textures of a luxury product, with the minimal philosophy, paired-back packaging, and accessible, unfussy air of a traditional French Pharmacy line.
