ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY: I remember getting the call from Michael Bay telling me that I got the role. It was a real mixed bag of emotions. In many ways, I felt that I'd won this once in a lifetime opportunity but I was terrified because I never acted before and never planned on it.
NICOLA PELTZ: I was so excited even though he warned me that it would be like no other movie set and that it would be really fast-moving and hard.
RHW: Yes, I'd come home from the action days just covered head-to-toe in bruises and cuts and have to get in an ice bath with Epsom salts.
NP: I didn't realize how much running went into it.
RHW: Oh my god, and in heels!
NP: I can't even wear certain open-toed heels now. [My feet] look so scary.
RHW: After you do a Transformers, you're like the new hot babe in Hollywood. I felt that so many meetings with studio execs were really just about sprinkling a little bit of pleasure on some guy's afternoon. I remember one man did bench curls throughout our whole meeting. Are you worried about being typecast or put in a box?
NP: I don't know what's coming but I think it's best to just ignore it as much as possible. I have specific ideas about what movie roles I'd love to get next and I'm being really picky about it.

RHW: When did you know that you wanted to be an actress?
NP: As a 12-year-old, I really enjoyed drama class. But my mom was very against the whole Hollywood thing. It took me a while to convince her. When I got my first play, I think she realized how serious I was about being an actress and how hard I was willing to work at it.
RHW: You're still quite young, apart from acting, is there anything else you'd like to do with your career?
NP: My friend's a photographer and I always help him art direct. I also love painting but it's just for me I guess. Like only my mom would think my work is good.
RHW: How do you feel about being photographed yourself? Do you enjoy it? Do you find it creatively fulfilling in the same way that you do acting?
NP: I like it when a photo shoot tells a story and I get to play a character. That's when they're a lot of fun. And since they're not my main job, I don't feel as much pressure. But acting is definitely my passion.
RHW: So I think you're absolutely stunning. You see so many Hollywood stars and the teeth, the nose, the makeup — everything is perfect and it's so boring for me. But your beauty feels natural and real. Can you tell me your skincare routine?
NP: I use a lot of natural products. I'm not crazy about the natural thing though. My mom has this beautiful bathroom with a million products and growing up it was so much fun to explore everything. I guess the two things I am obsessed with right now are Bioderma Sensibio H2O makeup remover and Lucas Papaw Ointment.

RHW: Some of my closest friends are makeup artists and stylists. They have seen me in my most raw and vulnerable states. It's almost like they put your armor on for you and get you ready to face the world. Do you feel similarly?
NP: Yes. I've done projects where I didn't feel like the makeup team had my back and it made me feel uncomfortable and vulnerable. But if you have people around you whom you trust, like Robbin [Kujus] who did Transformers, it makes a huge difference.
RHW: You're about to go on a big, international press tour for Transformers. Do you enjoy being on the red carpet?
NP: Definitely. It's fun to come together with people who you've worked with for six months and watch the movie together and get all dressed up.
RHW: I agree. I would literally be in some overturned car with sweaty Shia LeBouf and Michael [Bay] screaming and I would say to myself, “Just think of the red carpet, think of the red carpet. Think of the dresses. Think of how glamorous the premiere is going to be.” And that would get me through it.
