Due to the evident paucity of ways to broadcast the real-time details of one’s life to passing acquaintances and complete strangers, Instagram this week launched IGTV, a platform for uploading videos up to an hour in length. This is great news if you were born after Y2K and your “job” is to share pictures of Coachella with your 50 billion followers. But for the rest of us—who were just starting to get comfortable with Instagram Stories—the new technology is a bit of a curve ball. How do you compete, or just eke out a little space for self-expression, in such a saturated attention economy?

Answer: climb aboard the #Instabeauty train. In case you haven’t heard, beauty is, like, really popular on social media. And if you’re shopping at VIOLET GREY, you clearly know good beauty—and there are millions of eager eyeballs waiting to receive your emphatic product recommendations. To this end, you could easily just hit “record” while you do your nighttime skin care routine (and if you do, please tag @violetgrey). But true masters of the form understand that beauty with a visual impact—think cotton-candy colors, retro-luxe accessories, and futuristic formulations—is the quickest way to drive up your follower count. In this spirit, we’ve compiled a list of ten products that beg to be documented, and command others to stop mid-scroll for a closer look. Plus, since all of them were VIOLET CODE approved, they actually deliver serious results; you could use them very happily off-the-grid. But as the ancient proverb goes, pics or it didn’t happen.

Sure, Millenial Pink has been a trend for the better part of three years. Nonetheless, it still works: according to New York Magazine, Instagram posts featuring the shade get 150% more engagement than average.

Eventually, because you’re not a monster, you’ll have to unplug. Pursoma’s Digital Detox bath soak utilizes French clay to neutralize the effects of LED and radiofrequency emissions from your devices. Plus, water and smart phones don’t mix.
