At luxury skincare and makeup company Chantecaille, beauty is a family value. The brand, beloved for products like its hydrating Rose de Mai Cream and growth-promoting mascara, was founded in 1997 by Sylvie Chantecaille. Her daughters, Olivia and Alex, now serve as creative director and vice president of sales and promotion, respectively. Sylvie taught them that in beauty, “The natural way is the better way,” a maxim they both live by—in their own routines and when choosing Mother’s Day gifts to butter up the boss.
Here, the sisters share their definitive list of ideas for indulging their mother this year.
THE GIFT: DELICIOUS INDULGENCE
Chocolate cake from Maya’s Restaurant
Not only are the owners, Randy and Maya, dear family friends (they catered Olivia’s wedding in St. Barth), but our mother can’t get enough of their chocolate cake. It’s rich and bittersweet and makes her sneeze! She is quasi-allergic to chocolate, but loves it. So whenever she sneezes after a bite of dark chocolate we know it’s the real deal!

THE GIFT: HOLISTIC GETAWAY
Spa day at Mii Amo Resort & Spa
This is a truly unique spa that connects to the intense spiritual energy of Sedona, offering treatments like past-life regressions, crystal healing therapy, and herbal detox body wraps.
525 Boynton Canyon Road, Sedona, AZ 86336; (866) 901-6115
THE GIFT EXERCISE
Gift certificate to New Body Pilates with Terri Villa
Our mother loves to do Pilates with her trainer, Terri Villa, at NewBody Pilates. In the summer she does water Pilates in the pool—she has always found it energizing and cleansing. So pool aerobics has become a ritual on Sunday mornings during the summer at our beach house. Friends stop by to take part, and we all catch up while punching the water to Britney Spears and the Beach Boys—even our dad does it!
11 Whalers Drive, Sag Harbor, NY 11963; (631) 725-4820
THE GIFT: SHOPPING
Shopping spree at Matches Fashion
Our mother loves good-quality clothing that’s chic and authentic with a hint of the exotic. Matches Fashion is one of her favorite spots to shop in London because it has the best selection of her favorite designers, like Marni.

THE GIFT: DEEP RELAXATION
Deep tissue massage at Naturopathica
As a strong believer in homeopathic remedies, our mother loves a deep tissue massage at the Naturopathica Spa. She works hardest of any of us and travels the globe at least three times a year, so massages are integral to keeping her balanced.
Red Horse Plaza, 74 Montauk Highway, Suite 1, East Hampton, NY 11937; (631) 329-2525
THE GIFT: A DESERT RETREAT
Weekend at Amangiri Resort
She also loves the super chic, minimalist luxe vibe of the Amangiri. Surrounding herself with super well-done aesthetics is key to our mom’s concept of vacation and travel; they need to be authentic and meaningful and done with quality and taste. This retreat is perched on a butte near Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park.
1 Kayenta Road, Canyon Point, UT 84741; (435) 675-3999
THE GIFT: COUNTRY CUISINE
Pie at Round Swamp Farm
This Mother’s Day we have plans for a picnic lunch in East Hampton. In the morning we will head to Quail Hill Farm to pick some local produce, including asparagus and sweet peas, then we’ll swing by Round Swamp Farm for some delicious pies.
