Through it all, we are here.
On behalf of all of us at VIOLET GREY, please allow us to honor those on the front lines during these unprecedented times. Today we honor our heroes, starting with nurses, doctors, and healthcare providers around the world who are fighting the spread of COVID-19, putting their own health at risk to protect ours. Let us honor our men and women in uniform keeping our streets safe, and the first responders working overtime to show up for those of us in need. Let us honor the caretakers, and mothers and fathers keeping our children, our elderly, and our unwell comforted and loved. Let us honor our kitchen staff, dishwashers and servers who are cooking, cleaning and preparing meals to be picked up and delivered to our doorsteps. Let us honor our sanitation and janitorial teams who are taking care of our garbage, cleaning, mopping, wiping and disinfecting everywhere keeping the virus in check. Let us honor the countless organizations like baby2baby.org, who provide children in poverty with the basic necessities that every child deserves; Mealsonwheelsamerica.org, whose efforts address senior isolation and hunger; and the World Health Organization (who.int) and their COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Let us honor the truckers, stockers, clerks, checkers, hauling the loads, restocking the shelves, ringing the registers, and bagging our purchases. Let us honor the countless drivers and delivery teams who are all transporting our stuff and carrying many of our small businesses. And let us honor all of those in a position to continue to compensate our employees while they can't work from home and operations are on lock down.
At home, VIOLET GREY remains enduringly committed to the well-being of our community.
Last week, we made the proactive decision to close our HQ and mandate a work-from-home measure, which fortunately we can all do. We also closed our doors on Melrose Pl. All of our artists and experts are also working from home helping customers virtually spring clean their medicine cabinets and keep their necessities stocked. They can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org (virtual house calls).
We are closely following all current recommendations and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as local and federal authorities, to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19 at our warehouse in Los Angeles and where Alen Degeryan, our Director of Warehouse Operations and IT and his team of six, are holding it down while staying six feet away from each other clad in their protective booties, masks and gloves and equipped with disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer, and hand soap! They all have the option to stay home, but have chosen to be there together where they feel safe and take a great deal of pride in keeping our lights on and sending self-care packages and essentials to our customers. We are monitoring the situation on an hour-by-hour basis and are prepared to shut our warehouse doors should it be determined that is the safest for our team and our community.
Our Content team led by the lovely and talented Maureen Choi and Vicen Akina want to interrupt our usual programming to bring you the content you want during this time! What do you want from us?!
