In honor of their new lingerie collaboration, a stylist and a designer share their weekend and evening rituals.

Like high heels and pedicures, most great things in life are even better together. So when VIOLET GREY found out that two of our favorite LA women—lingerie designer TyLynn Nguyen and celebrity stylist Mariel Haenn—were joining forces for a capsule collection of classically sexy underpinnings, we invited them to our Melrose Place flagship to show us their wares. And given that Haenn’s clients (she dresses Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, and Ciara, to name a few) have long been awaiting her first foray into design, we weren’t the only ones who jumped at the news.

By the time the duo produced their samples, they already had an extensive waitlist of bold-face names waiting to snap up their sleek, silky slips and robes and understatedly glamorous underthings. “It was a no-brainer,” Haenn says of the decision to team up with Nguyen. “The esthetic is in line with my personal style, so it was an easy yes.”

Next, Nguyen asked her design partner what she imagined the definitive intimates collection would look like. Haenn—who, it’s worth noting, also creates bedazzled bodysuits for J. Lo’s tour looks—tapped into her minimalist side for the occasion. “She said, ‘V-necks, T-backs, nudes that look good on everyone’—it was very organic,” Nguyen recalls of Haenn’s precise mandates.

In celebration of the collection, launching exclusively at VIOLET GREY this week, Haenn and Nguyen share their lazy Sunday and bedtime routines, respectively, plus the lingerie for each.

WHAT CONSTITUTES A LAZY SUNDAY?

Lazy Sundays are far and few between, but when I get one I make the most of it by doing as little as possible. I wake up around 7 a.m. like clockwork—sleeping in still means waking up around 7:30, but not getting out of bed till 9.

IDEAL ENSEMBLE...

...for a long slumber?

I opt for my black T-back silk slip dress from the collaboration I did with TyLynn.

FAVORITE BEDDING

...for lounging around the house?

I just throw on a silk kimono robe—also part of our collection—over the slip.

HOW MANY PILLOWS?

Six pillows on the bed, two for sleeping.

IDEAL MATTRESS: FIRM, SOFT, OR MEMORY FOAM?

Firm, with pillow top.

COFFEE OR TEA?

Iced coffee with almond milk and agave in the morning; fresh mint tea at night.

FAVORITE MORNING-IN ACTIVITIES

First I light my candles—I have Byredo Bibliothèque in my bathroom and Spirituelle Verte by Mad et Len or Le Labo Laurier 62 in the living room and outdoor living room. Then I’ll listen to music and dance around the house with my husband, or watch surf competitions and random YouTube videos followed by a spontaneous and intense nap. All essentials for recovering from a long week.

WHAT’S FOR BREAKFAST?

My husband prepares our daily açai smoothie (açai, strawberry, banana, almond milk, maca, chia, and plant protein topped with honey and bee pollen), then we make eggs over medium, chicken apple maple sausage, and wheat toast with side of avocado.

SHOWER: MORNING OR NIGHT?

Always morning, but sometimes I shower again at night, or take a bath with lavender and vanilla essential oils and Epsom salts and light my favorite Mad et Len candle.

MORNING BEAUTY REGIMEN?

I wash my face with IS Clinical Cleansing Complex face wash, followed by In Fiore Complex de Fleur serumIn Fiore Vis Clair for under the eyes, and a spritz of In Fiore Visage Vitale. Every other day I add Leaf Stem Face Food oil. I use Crème de La Mer for the rest of my body, and if I’m staying home, I’ll use my favorite product, Retinol Reform by Shani Darden, which is usually part of my night routine.

LAZY SUNDAY SOUNDTRACK?

Glass Animals “Gooey,” Young Fathers “I Heard,” Led Zeppelin “D’yer Mak’er” and “Going to California,” Empire of the Sun “Walking on a Dream,” Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo, and anything by Bob Marley.

OFF-DUTY BEAUTY ICON?

Kate Moss forever.

BEDTIME?

Depends on the kids—Lotus, my daughter, is 3-and-a-half; Czar, my son, is 7 months old. I try to put them down by 8:30, but realistically they’re asleep closer to 9:30. I take a long bath, and then it’s bedtime for me.

NIGHTCAP OF CHOICE?

A glass of red, preferably Malbec, paired with a face mask. I like Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Moisture Mask or Sisley Black Rose Mask.

WHAT DO YOU WEAR TO BED...

...after a crazy workweek?

...on date night?

My TyLynn Nguyen slip, Tom Ford White Patchouli perfume, and La Mer Body Lotion—all the elements have to seduce. Dating—even when you’re married to your date—is an art form.

FAVORITE BEDDING?

Sferra Milos sheets and bedding. They’re so soft and they come in great neutral colors.

HOW MANY PILLOWS?

Two.

IDEAL MATTRESS: FIRM, SOFT, OR MEMORY FOAM?

Firm.

HOW DO YOU RELAX BEFORE BED?

Reading. I really like to learn new words, and that’s the only way it happens for me. My favorite word right now is galvanizing.

EYE MASK, EYE CREAM, OR I DON’T CARE?

La Mer Eye Cream! A lifesaver because I barely sleep.

WHAT DO YOU DREAM ABOUT?

Depends. Most recently I was in the middle of the desert looking at the stars and honey started pouring into the china I was holding.

HOW MANY HOURS OF SLEEP DO YOU GET?

Ideally, 7 to 8 hours. Real life, 4 hours.

SLEEPING BEAUTY ICON?

There is a picture Bert Stern took of Marilyn Monroe in 1962. She is wrapped in sheets and drinking something. I like to believe I look like this in my sleeping chambers.
