For centuries, royals have enveloped themselves in decadent violet hued capes trimmed with ermine and velvet crowns
bedecked with jewels. It is a color that will always evoke a sense of power with a touch of unaffected elegance. For this
year’s award season, nail artist Karen Gutierrez decidedly selected Yves Saint Laurent nail lacquer in Violine Surrealiste, a shade that is
bold, vibrant, and so very violet.
Tutorial By Karen Gutierrez
Begin by applying a daily moisturizer to your hands to soften skin. Shape nails as desired with a file. An oval nail shape accentuates femininity and can accentuate and complement long or short nail beds.
The base coat is a critical step to maximizing the wear-ability of any manicure. For the most effective application remove any excess oils from the nail plate by wiping each nail with an alcohol prep pad.
Nail artist Karen Gutierrez was in the midst of fulfilling a career in research psychology when her passion for nails
could no longer be ignored. Since entering the industry, Gutierrez has abided by a piece of advice her grandmother once
bestowed upon her, “Treat hands like jewels, not tools.” Gutierrez’s beautiful, and often jewel-like designs, are frequently
featured in major publications (Elle, Harper’s Bazaar) and on the hands of Gisele, Rose Byrne, and Eve Mendes.
REAPPLY top coat every other day to keep nails STRONG and brilliant.
