C.T.: YOU TRAVEL THE GLOBE AND ALWAYS LOOK SO EFFORTLESSLY AMAZING. WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY ADDRESS BOOK?
L.R.: I have a really simple beauty address book. Every person is local to my home in Bel Air. I love facials by
Terri Lawton and
Marianne Kehoe. I usually go to
Frederick Fekkai for my color on Melrose Place. I’m not a huge fan of massage so instead I have an incredible osteopath/chiropractor,
Adi Herman, who works on my body from time to time to keep me aligned.
C.T.: I STILL CANNOT GET OVER THE FACT THAT YOU ARE A MOTHER OF TWO! BEING 7 MONTHS PREGNANT MYSELF, I AM STARTING TO THINK ABOUT LIFE AFTER BIRTH. HOW DID YOU BOUNCE BACK SO QUICKLY AFTER GIVING BIRTH? I WANT TO STEAL YOUR SECRETS!
L.R.: I was 25 when I had my first baby, which I think had a bit to do with it! I had just moved from London to L.A. when I was 6 months pregnant. It was a very exciting time and I was so in love and happy. I started doing a pre-natal yoga class, really to just meet people as I was in a new city, but that helped keep my body feeling good and my circulation up. I also started hiking in the beautiful canyons around my house, which was a great workout. But I would say keeping rested and healthy is the key to a great pregnancy.
C.T.: WHAT ARE THE SECRETS OF YOUR MAKEUP BAG?
L.R.: Aromatherapy Associates miniature bath and shower collection. They are amazing for travel, good for relaxing or pick-ups. I was never a fan of makeup wipes until I recently discovered
Serge Lutens’. They are incredible. And his lip conditioner has become a staple in my wash bag also. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Multi-Miracle Glow Cleanser. I use it daily on my face and décolletage.
Tom Ford lipsticks: Black orchid and Diabolique are two of my favorites, plus his ultra-length mascara. I wear an all-natural tuberose fragrance in almond jojoba oil. And I like Le Labo Rose 31 body lotion.
C.T.: I CAN NEVER PICK JUST ONE FAVORITE MAKEUP PRODUCT BUT I AM UNFAIRLY GOING TO ASK YOU. WHAT'S YOUR DESERT ISLAND MAKEUP PRODUCT?
L.R.: Eyelash curlers and mascara for sure!
C.T.: I AM SURE EVERYONE IS DYING TO KNOW, JUST LIKE I AM, HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR FABULOUS LOOKING SKIN?
L.R.: Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I think that’s the key to youthful skin, especially if you love the sun as much as I do, and today there is such a fantastic variety of skincare products that include SPF. I love
Creme de La Mer, Josie Maran, and of course my new favorite Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream.
C.T.: WHAT IS THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED?
L.R.: Every day should be a “wow day”. And if it isn’t, then make it one!

Never underestimate the POWER of good makeup – it’s a woman’s SECRET weapon.
— CHARLOTTE TILBURY, Makeup Artist
LIBERTY ROSS: I'VE KNOWN YOU FOR OVER 15 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN YOU WITHOUT HIGH HEELS. HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR BODY RELAXED AND ALIGNED?
CHARLOTTE TILBURY: It’s true– I can’t live without high heels! It was Tom Ford who once told me that when women wear stilettos, we naturally adapt our posture to be that of a classic mating position: Chest and derrière are pronounced, legs are tall and muscular. I feel that in high heels my posture is better, I stretch my back more correctly and in general the silhouette is more flattering. I only buy the best quality shoes I can, so I actually find them comfortable! Prada, Alaia, Miu Miu, Charlotte Olympia, Tom Ford, Christian Louboutin are some of my favorites. But there are some amazing high street brands that can also be great for a quick fashion update when you want to be shoe-promiscuous, and not financially commit to a new pair. Zara and Kurt Geiger are my top, thrifty picks.
L.R.: I'VE NEVER SEEN YOU WITHOUT A TON OF MASCARA. HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN YOU WITHOUT IT ON?
C.T.: No one has ever seen me without makeup! At night, I take off my make-up, cleanse and moisturize, but then put my eye makeup back on. I call it my “bedroom eyes” look. Without my makeup on, I don’t feel like me– if I’m feeling tired or lackluster I will often re-apply my eyeliner and touch up my makeup, and I will instantly feel more awake, happier and ready for action! It’s my choice to wear makeup to bed, I’m not saying that everyone has to, but I’m a big believer in the psychology of makeup and how it can affect how you feel inside and how you are perceived by others.
L.R.: I AM TRANSFIXED BY YOUR HAIR, NOT ONLY THE COLOR, WHICH I KNOW IS ALL YOURS BUT MAINLY THE CUT AND TEXTURE. WHAT ARE YOUR SECRETS?
C.T.: I will get it cut when I am on shoots and at shows by the hair stylists on the team— many of whom I’ve worked with for ages and adore! Oribe Canales, Sam McKnight, Anthony Turner, Malcolm Edwards, Orlando Pita, etc.
When it comes to styling my hair, I go for a Bardot-esque, rock-chic look. It’s that gorgeous, back-combed hair look with a just-out-of-bed twist. In terms of maintenance, I wash it with either Kérastase (Gold Elixir Ultime range), or Oribe’s shampoo and conditioner. I will always finish with a bit of Oribe Dry Texturing Shampoo; it’s really great at putting that healthy sheen back into your hair and smells incredible. I will tease and backcomb my hair with Mason Pearson brushes, to build up volume. The rest is a secret.
L.R.: WHAT'S YOUR GREATEST LIFE LESSON?
C.T.: Never underestimate the power of good makeup – it’s a woman’s secret weapon. I learned this lesson at the age of 13 when I returned home to Ibiza wearing mascara. Literally, everyone from 7 – 70 years old reacted to me in a completely different way. Overnight, I was more popular and attractive to people. It unlocked an obsession with beauty and makeup within me that became a life-long passion. At first I was outraged at being judged on my appearance, but then I realized the power it had and I said to myself, “Right, I’m going to run with it”. I want to give women the power to become the most beautiful and confident version of themselves.
L.R.: WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE TO PERK YOURSELF UP? YOU ALWAYS LOOK SO FRESH AND FULL OF LIFE.
C.T.: My go-to products are my secret Magic Cream and Wonderglow. I’m a strong believer in facial massaging to revive the skin and use a technique known as the Tilbury Tap! I use a firm motion to blend in the Magic Cream up the cheekbones, underneath the delicate eye area and across the forehead to stimulate lymphatic drainage and perk up the face. It’s an instant turnaround for your face, but the cream is so rich and nourishing it feels like a comfort blanket for tired, hung-over skin. I will then always follow this routine with my genius youth glow product, Wonderglow, the ultimate light-bulb moment for your skin! It brightens, lifts and illuminates the face. I call it, “Gisele in-a-jar”!
L.R.: WHAT IS YOUR BUSINESS MOTTO?
C.T.: Give a woman the right makeup and she can conquer the world!
