One of Violette’s fondest memories takes places on a trip from Paris to the South of France, when the artist’s train passed through a long stretch of golden wheat fields punctuated by fire-red poppies.“The poppies had this incredible vibrant bright orange red color,” says Violette. “I felt like it was the most feminine color mood I’d ever seen.”
And when Violette gets inspired, we all benefit. The Estée Lauder Global Beauty Director transformed that picturesque pastoral into a seven-piece makeup collection, Poppy Sauvage. Translated roughly as “Wild Poppy,” the limited-edition Estée Lauder by Violette range is comprised of rich, evocative products for eyes, lips and cheeks. Picture a vermillion liquid lip, a bronze-y terra shadow stick, and a ballerina-pink blush.
Below and in the above video, Violette gives an up-close look at the collection, including tips on how to wear and apply each product.
“I love to start with the nude blush and then go in with the pink,” says Violette. “[The pink is a] bit peachy and you can use it to sculpt the cheekbone.”
Violette created this translucent balm to enhance different parts of the face such as the cheekbones, cupids bow, and inner corners of eyes. “This is really one of my favorite products,” she adds. “I like to apply this on top of eyeshadow and make it look more wet.”
The first product Violette created was this liquid lipstick in Poppy Sauvage, an homage to French poppies. “I wanted to create a color that looked exactly like French poppies—super bright and voluminous,” she says. “It’s orangey red, but has a tiny bit of blue.”
This eyeshadow palette contains two matte and two shimmery shades and a highlighter that can also be used on the inner corner of the eyes, cheekbones, and cupid’s bow.
