The wash-off body bronzer that perfects, corrects, and delivers a photo-ready finish.

WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EYE

When dreaming of the perfect tan, Ireland is probably not the first place that comes to mind. But the nation’s sun-challenged climate inspired Alyson Hogg to launch her Vita Liberata self-tanning products in 2007. (It turns out the Irish use more self-tanner per capita than any other country.) In response to the demand of her glow-seeking friends, Hogg developed a proprietary nontoxic formula starring natural ingredients (a rarity in the tanning field), which carries scarcely a whiff of the unseemly odor that so often accompanies self-tanners.

One of Hogg’s heroes is the Body Blur, a wash-off liquid bronzer that offers all the most flattering benefits of a tan at a moment’s notice. Expect a natural, glowy finish that obscures the appearance of cellulite and spider veins—Hogg likens it to the leg-enhancing luster of luxury sheer stockings. For a matte finish, serve your Body Blur straight up, using a mitt to apply; for a dewier effect, combine with your body lotion, oil, or foundation. Safe for use on the face as well as the body, it has water-resistant properties that keep makeup in place, even in soaring temperatures.

THE ARTIST RESPONSE

Body Blur is perfect for my clients, as you can control it with no surprises. When it comes to everyday life, I prefer this because it applies easily and doesn’t leave any unsightly lines, marks, or ridges. Also, I love the subtle shimmer and the fact that it doesn’t leave a metallic-looking layer that sits in the pores.”—Jo Strettell, makeup artist

“The Body Blur is perfect for red carpets and photo shoots if you need an instant tan. It has great coverage and it is easy to blend. Also, once it dries it doesn’t move.”—Carola Gonzalez, makeup artist

“This is a staple in my kit. It blends beautifully and doesn’t look overdone.”—Fiona Stiles, makeup artist

SUGGESTED USE

Using a tan mitt or your hands, apply a few pea-size dots along limbs and blend in circular motions. For face and décolletage, apply sparingly with fingers or a foundation brush. Wash hands after application.
