A longtime style influencer set out to create a skin care formulation that would replace her effective-but-elaborate regimen. Thanks to a technological breakthrough all the way from Italy, that dream is now a (brightening, tightening, glow-giving) reality.

Long before Instagram stars were landing lucrative ad campaigns, and eons before Tik Tok took over our screen time, there was Tina Craig and her blog, Bag Snob. Launched in 2005, the site chronicled Craig’s witty, unfiltered opinions on luxury accessories; since then, it has expanded to cover lifestyle, wellness, and beauty. Now there are countless bag blogs and hundreds of influencers reviewing their Bottega Veneta Pouches on YouTube. Craig, however, was ahead of the curve.
Actually, she still is. But this time, she’s setting out to help women rethink their beauty routine. The idea started in her own bathroom. After years of reviewing skin care products and collaborating with some of the biggest names in luxury beauty, Craig had developed an effective skin care routine. Problem was, it involved an elaborate process each morning and evening—cleansing, toning, applying serum, plus 10 additional steps. The regimen worked, but it required too many products and time. (Sound familiar?)
So she began dreaming of a single formula that would provide all of the benefits—hydration, gentle exfoliation, brightening, repair, softening, smoothing, and tightening—in a simple swipe. It would work on all skin types, be cleanly formulated, and cruelty-free, of course. But most importantly, it would produce results quickly—without requiring an unpleasant adjustment period of irritation or breakouts.
A tall order, to be sure. But not impossible. A chance meeting in New York City led Craig to discover a medical-grade lab in Italy, and from there, she described her wish list to scientists. They had just the thing: a new, dual-phase delivery system that targets only the skin cells in need of repair. Like a magnet, these SIREN capsules draw free radicals towards them, then release a blend of ingredients like dullness-destroying exfoliators, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid to neutralize their dastardly skin-damaging powers and help skin heal. The most impressive part? SIREN capsules are “smart” enough to target only damaged skin cells, which means these powerhouse ingredients go where they’re needed most (and healthy skin doesn’t become irritated in the process).
Naturally, this patent-pending technology is the star of Resurfacing Compound, the debut product from Craig’s brand, U Beauty. After nine iterations of the formula, the result is a high-performance product that produces visible and measurable improvement in only three to six days. In a clinical trial, a single application resulted in an average of 15.4% less visible wrinkles and imperfections, 9% reduction of visible pores, and 5% improvement in skin brightness. After 30 days, the numbers were even better: an average of 29% less visible wrinkles, up to 42% better pore size, and an average 16% boost in radiance. But really, a glance at Craig’s own flawless complexion or U Beauty’s before-and-after photos is all you need to know that this stuff works.

As with every product on VIOLET GREY, the U Beauty Resurfacing Compound reached our shelves once a minimum of 70 percent of testers deemed it a winner. At that time, we added it to our skin care edit with the Violet Code’s official stamp of approval.
