Giorgio Armani $38
WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EYE
Liquid lipsticks are dime a dozen. A measurable amount of beauty brands have conjured up their version, yet a multitude of them don’t stack up to The Violet Code standards. Think: long-lasting, hydrating, buildable, lightweight, and luxe packaging. So after testing about 100 renditions, we found Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet, which met all our expectations. The smudge-proof liquid lipstick (expert note: Lip Magnet appears shinier upon application, but dries quickly to leave a thin matte film) is four times thinner and has twice as much color as a traditional lipstick.
Born out of necessity backstage during an Armani Fashion Show, Lip Magnet was conceived when international makeup artist Linda Cantello mixed two products together. She wanted a lip finish with the weightlessness and fluidity of Maestro Fusion Foundation and the intense color of Lip Maestro.
THE ARTIST RESPONSE
“I love this. The color actually stays on your lips and the applicator is really nice.”—Jamie Greenberg, makeup artist
“Liquid lips can be tough because many of them are drying and tend to be uncomfortable as the day goes on. This formula is exquisite, and it’s now a staple in my lipstick wardrobe.”—Kirin Bhatty, makeup artist
Apply to the lips from the center outward to avoid any bleeding, and use the pointed end on the corners and Cupid’s bow for precision. Layer on for more pigment or blot with a tissue to reveal the perfect stain.
