My first and favorite tip actually has nothing to do with products: Just pick a place with great lighting. The Sunset Tower is one of my favorites in Los Angeles because it has very forgiving candlelight, which makes everyone look young and flawless. I’m sure he has seen your Facebook page, your Snapchat, and your Instagram, so you’ll want to look as perfect as all those heavily filtered selfies.
If your aim is to look natural, you don’t want to overdo the eyes. I’d go for the Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Silk Eyeshadow in 6, which is a gorgeous gold with a bit of shimmer but isn’t too sparkly. Apply onto eyelids with the back of your finger and then blend it out. For kissable lips, try the Chantecaille Brilliant Lip Gloss in Love.
The Tower’s great lighting offers a perfect opportunity to enlist a highlighter—the candlelight will really pick it up and make you look radiant. Dab Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate on the high points of the cheekbones. Finally, add a dash of perfume—something citrus-based and summery—on the ends of your hair so if you get nervous and start playing with it, he’ll pick up just a hint of fragrance.
Top priority? Olas mouthwash. He might want to kiss you the next morning, and fresh breath is a beautiful thing. If you wake up in the night, make a trip to the bathroom and give your teeth a quick rinse. Applying dry shampoo before bedtime is also a great idea in case your hair is oily; it also helps create the perfect sexy bedhead look for the morning after. Body oil is a must, but don’t use anything that is too strong or flowery—I prefer something like the African Botanics Marula Firming Botanical Body Oil, which smells like a spa. As far as attire is concerned, try something classic like TyLynn Nguyen lingerie. It’s sexy and comfortable, and you won’t look like you’re trying too hard.
If you really want to go full Marilyn, before turning down spritz a bit of perfume, curl your lashes to brighten up your eyes, and dab the RMS concealer under your eyes and on any blemishes. I did that with my husband at the beginning of our relationship and he thought I just naturally looked that good.
