hollywood jasmine

The artisanal fragrance inspired by the blooms of the Hollywood Hills.

THE STORY OF A SCENT

Alluring, all-natural luxury fragrances are like rare gems—there aren’t many to be found. Indeed, the scientific research and distallation process required to create “natural” fragrance is a huge labor of love.

But L’Oeil du Vert, a 100 percent botanical and artisanal fragrance company, has cracked the code. The perfumery, whose name means “the eye of the green,” was launched in 2005 by Santa Monica–based Haley Alexander Van Ooston, who travels the world to source raw natural materials and distill them into oils.

Case in point: Van Ooston’s Hollywood Jasmine fragrance, which orginated from an A-list actress’ request that Van Ooston scent the Oscars Green Room with jasmine from the Hollywood Hills. And given that awards season coincides with jasmine season in LA, Van Ooston blended five varieties with white sandalwood, sweet marigold, and coastal sagebrush for the occasion. The aroma was an Oscars win, and evolved into a fragrance for the skin that now lives exclusively on the shelves of VIOLET GREY—and soon, your vanity.
