VICTORIA BECKHAM BEAUTY’S FRAGRANCE COLLECTION

This is a love story.

DISCOVERED

Victoria Beckham made us cry. Some context: After many years of development, the popstar-turned-fashion-and-beauty-mogul created her first fragrance collection as a tribute to her fairytale-esque world tour of a romance with husband David. Each of the three scents captures a closely held memory—stories so evocative, so heartfelt and beautiful that, as we listened, one of VIOLET GREY’s editors was caught with a tear running down her cheek. We figured, if the fragrances were even half as gorgeous as their inspiration, they were certainly worth a try.

TESTED

Just like everything else Mrs. Beckham conjures into existence, her new scents were sublime. Clearly crafted with an artist’s hand (or rather, nose), the layering was meticulous and refined, and the final product felt utterly effortless to wear—like a second skin. With a range that took us from fresh and bright with Portofino ‘97, airy and floral with San Ysidro Drive, to sensual and musky thanks to the leather notes of Suite 302, the eau de parfums were neither too understated nor overpowering. Samples were en route to the Committee of Industry Experts as quickly as we could get them.

“All three of the fragrances are thoughtfully constructed with notes that are both harmonious and distinctive. They smell expensive and unique, which is hard to do in the oversaturated perfume market! My favorite of the three is Suite 302—notes of spice and a subtle gourmand sweetness drift over the slightest hint of an almost masculine base. It reminds me of luxurious hotel suites or the leather-rich lobby of your favorite classic five star establishment. It is the kind of fragrance that quickly becomes a signature and always elicits compliments.”
—ROBIN BLACK, Makeup Artist & Photographer

“Beverly Hills, but make it British. San Ysidro Drive encapsulates Posh and Beck’s 2007 move to the City of Angels—a new beginning. Notes of passion fruit, jasmine, and black amber perfectly combine the fun, carefree independence of LA with the sophistication of London.”
—ELIZABETH GRACE HAND, Aesthetician

“Portofino ‘97 is a fresh, clean scent that really captures the feeling of summer.”
—KIRA NASRAT, Makeup Artist
