Powder blush can be tricky, and for quite some time now, we have been combing the market, laser-focused in our search for one that meets our numerous and non-negotiable criteria: supreme blendability, a skin-like, glowing finish, excellent color payoff, but not so much pigment as to give us accidental clown cheeks, impressive staying-power, and a sheer, light-as-air texture that is effortless to apply—all without even a hint of chalky, dry residue. A tall order, yes, but if we are going to whip out brushes and stray from our beloved cream options, said blush has to be exceptional. We’d begun to lose hope such a product existed. Then, it landed on our desks.
Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Glow Blush is, in fact, a powder, but wearing it is like draping the skin in a cloud-like fine mist of color, giving the impression that the skin is illuminated from within. Our editors–some blush devotees, others afraid of too much flush–were able to build the weightless formula from barely-there to bold with total control. In every shade and on every skin tone and texture, the powder melted in, providing a seamless, natural finish—the Luminous Silk filler technology and spherical light reflecting pigments creating a soft-focus, filtered complexion that exuded health and vitality. Off to the Committee of Industry Experts it went.
“Super smooth and silky! It blends beautifully and leaves a soft blur on the skin which I love. It’s not powdery at all, either.”
—NADIA TAYEH, Makeup Artist
“Even though it’s a powder blush, it doesn’t act like one—it blends easily and evenly on the skin. Pigments are true to shade, and the skin looks beautifully radiant.”
—CAROLA GONZALEZ, Makeup Artist
“This silky blush blends well and is buildable. It leaves your cheeks with the perfect dose of color and subtle glow.”
—SIMONE SIEGL, Makeup Artist
Our mission is accomplished, and Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Glow Blush is officially VIOLET CODE APPROVED.
