Melrose Place General Manager

Job Summary

The Melrose Place General Manager is integral to leading the store team and developing our flagship as a “must see” beauty destination. The ideal candidate has the ability to spearhead creative brand focused events and engaging customer experiences, and then execute flawlessly. They must continuously educate the Melrose Place artists on new brands, products and techniques, manage the aesthetic and ambiance of the store, and possess a passion for luxury, beauty, fashion, and Hollywood. This role will intensely collaborate with the Marketing, Creative, Editorial, Merchandising, and Client Services teams. The Melrose Place General Manager will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, incentivize and manage store staff
  • Manage store event calendar
  • Manage monthly store budget (events, maintenance, etc.)
  • Present store programming ideas and initiatives to HQ
  • Source, coordinate, and book vendors for store events and installations (when applicable)
  • Communicate to key vendors how to showcase their brand in-store in the most meaningful way (events, early access, exclusives, facials, makeup consults, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Beauty Director to ensure the store mimics our online aesthetic
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of luxury beauty lines, efficacy, ingredients, and trends
  • Train and inform Client Services on product knowledge
  • Provide artistry expertise and insight to store artists and clients
  • Coordinate with HQ to make sure stock is up to date and right for the store
  • Coordinate with HQ on content for upcoming launches
  • Participate in the hiring process of retail artists including vetting candidates to ensure they meet 
the Violet Grey artistry standards; conducting the makeup application portion of the interview; 
training on brand and retail etiquette
  • Meet with the retail team weekly to discuss merchandising, beauty industry updates, emerging trends, 
artistry skill training, Violet Grey brand updates, etc.
  • Schedule and attend brand trainings on new launches

Qualifications:

  • College degree and 8+ years of related retail experience
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A forward thinker who is highly motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to prioritize, manage task completion and show good problem-solving judgment
  • Ability to work and think independently while taking ownership of projects to ensure they are fully vetted and implemented
  • Very positive, enthusiastic and compassionate team player with strong work ethic and interest in growing with the company
  • Strong interest and eye for fashion and beauty
  • Strong professional references and proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with many types of people at various levels
  • Strong relationships with artists and influencers
  • Luxury clientele
