Director of eCommerce

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading e-commerce and digital marketing activities, consumer and brand experience, and driving revenue and profit growth for the Company’s largest channel.  This role requires a proven track record in growing e-commerce businesses and maximizing sales through digital marketing, user experience enhancements, effective traffic-driving tactics, reporting and analysis, paid search and ad spend, and site optimization. You will report directly to the CEO.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the e-commerce business, from sales and merchandising strategy to analytics and decision-making.

  • Be responsible for planning, optimizing, and managing the marketing and tech budgets and programs that drive ROI and increase KPI performance.

  • Enhance the online customer experience, maximize site usability, define and prioritize new site features and functionality, and implement programs that will ultimately engage our customers.

  • Ensure product assortment and content is rich, well-merchandised, engaging, complete, accurate, and fully optimized for both consumers and search engines.

  • Build and execute a product and tech roadmap that meets the needs of the customer and the business.

  • Conduct quality assurance testing.

  • Oversee all efficient and effective digital marketing strategy and execution across all channels including SEM, SEO, retargeting, affiliates, partnerships, email, and other digital media opportunities.

  • Devise strategies to increase online traffic to the company website, tracking conversion rates and making updates and improvements to the website as needed along the way.

  • Develop the customer journey strategy and touchpoints that drive repeat purchases and retention of existing customers.

  • Partner closely with Marketing and Content to develop, implement, and/or optimize effective online campaigns, digital marketing, and social media strategies that drive traffic, and increase conversion and sales.

  • Provide consistent and effective leadership and mentorship to advance the skills and overall effectiveness of the e-commerce team.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and gold standard customer service within and around all e-commerce operations.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in an e-commerce leadership role (luxury fashion or beauty are preferred).

  • Subject matter expertise in web production, site operations, UI/UX, features and functionalities, site merchandising, and content and digital marketing strategy and tactics.

  • Demonstrable and impressive track record of achievement in revenue growth, management of budgets, developing relationships with third party vendors, and team building and development.

  • Strong understanding of digital marketing disciplines required to drive traffic to retail websites, including SEM/PPC, Email Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, SEO, Social Media, Content Distribution, and Marketing Analytics.

  • Excellent communications skills, technically proficient, detail-oriented, analytical, and results-driven.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast paced startup environment.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Proficiency in Google Analytics and Google Adwords.

  • Must have experience with e-commerce backend systems (Spree experience a plus).

  • Netsuite experience a plus.
