DIRECTOR, ECOMMERCE & PERFORMANCE MARKETING
Job Summary
At VIOLET GREY, we're looking for a thoughtful and passionate Director, Ecommerce & Performance Marketing who truly takes pride in their work. VIOLET GREY is at an exciting inflection point and needs contributors who constructively challenge "the way things have always been done" at the company.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and eventually the Chief Community Officer (aka CMO) when hired, the Director, Ecommerce & Performance Marketing will be responsible for delivering revenue in our largest and most important channel while building an omnichannel performance marketing strategy that connects the customer experience with our brand.
This is a career-defining role that will provide the right candidate an opportunity to join a high profile and extremely fast-growing business. The candidate will be a leader in a growing marketing department with two current direct reports and several more planned over the next 18 months. Responsibilities:
Deliver an exceptional customer experience on VIOLETGREY.com
Work closely with senior leaders at the company to implement strategies to not only increase the number of customers year over year, but also sales per customer, driving towards aggressive growth plans for the company
Work closely with the tech team and technology partners to improve the brand experience on our web properties without sacrificing performance
Implement strategies and media plans for customer acquisition to reduce CAC
Build retention marketing and CRM strategies to increase CLV and build brand loyalty and increase the number of repeat customers and loyalists
Manage email and SMS marketing strategies that connect customers with our content and brand voice while driving revenue and loyalty
Work alongside Head of Arts & Communication to optimize content and assets for every channel
Manage affiliate network while building incentives that activate and engage our community
Manage media agency and ad networks overseeing paid social, search, and display
Partner with SEO agency to improve organic search rankings
Oversee the marketing calendar and report on campaign results to improve performance
Create forecasts and plans along with expense budgets to drive ecommerce revenue and maximize profitability
Constantly be thinking about the customer first and building their relationship with the brand through content and commerce
Communicate a clear brand message and point of view across all performance marketing channels
Manage and mentor two direct reports and utilize strong network to grow the ecommerce and marketing team
Inform and educate the content and creative teams on results to better optimize assets and improve KPIs
Develop A/B testing strategies across consumer touchpoints that better inform future marketing and content decisions
Qualifications:
8-10 years of proven success growing direct to consumer businesses online, beauty experience is a significant advantage
Data driven with experience managing budgets and a P&L
Expert in Google Analytics and customer retention metrics
Experience with digital advertising, campaign management, and agency oversight
Successful optimizations of email & SMS marketing and lifecycle messaging
Background improving CVR and AOV on ecommerce sites
Technical with a strong proficiency in digital marketing strategies
Experience with affiliate marketing programs
Background in luxury or prestige beauty and a knowledge of the industry, market and consumer
Familiarity with large scale CMS content publishing platforms and self-hosted e-commerce (vs. SaaS ) is a plus
